Cinnamon; So much more than a tasty spice
Did you know that Cinnamon is so much more than a spice we love on our toast or in our cookies?   Here’s some interesting tidbits for all us science geeks.

Cinnamon is a compound that stimulates the activity of the body’s calorie burning brown fat. Who knew we were burning calories when we were eating cookies!! Korean researchers found that subjects on a cinnamon-rich diet gained 67% LESS weight on a high-fat diet than those who skipped the spice.  Also, the American Heart Association presented findings from an animal study that showed subjects given cinnamon supplements had 37% less visceral fat and 18% lower liver weight after 12 weeks than those not given the spice. Cinnamon is full of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds, which slow fat storage.

And my last little tidbit about this amazing spice is that this compound has been shown to activate insulin receptors in cells to help decrease blood-sugar fluctuations by 29% (Per USDA scientists). They also say it leads to sunnier moods, greater energy and faster fat loss.

AND did you know Young Living has Vitality oils which are safe for consumption.  One of my favorites is Cinnamon Bark Vitality. But I use it sparingly since it is very potent. Usually, I just dip a toothpick in it and then swirl the toothpick in my dish. So convenient and it doesn't expire. Check out the full line of Vitality Essential OIls by going to the product catelog and selecting Dietary Oils.

So……. Let’s get eating all those cinnamon deserts, drinks, and cookies!!! OK, OK, everything in moderation.  Happy Holidays.
