How to stay feeling great in 2021
Here’s a few natural things that we can all do to stay above the Wellness Line in 2021.

  1. Support good blood pressure:  Medical experts recommend under 120/80.  Spend a few hours each evening toasty warm with your favorite blanket. Warm skin prods the released of artery-relaxing nitric oxide.
  2. Work on that belly fat:   Avocados are rich in phytosterols and monounsaturated fats which help to reduce hunger and prevent carb cravings.   How about a piece of toast smothered in avocado? I like to add a little of Trader Joe’s “Everything but the Bagel” seasoning.
  3. Steady your blood sugar:   Crafting (scrapbooking, knitting, sewing, you name it) helps you calm your brain. These activities can also cut down cortisol production which can negatively affect your insulin release and immunity cells.
  4. Lower your “bad” cholesterol levels:  And you can do this with a little black raspberry powder (or fresh berries when they are in season). Add 1 tsp. of the powder somewhere in your daily diet. I’m going to start adding it to my morning protein shake.
  5. Increase you happy thoughts:  Not just to feel happier. It actually affects your triglyceride levels (a type of fat the liver produces from excess sugar). Researchers found that you can lower your triglyceride levels when you start focusing on the little things that make you feel happy or content.  Make it a practice!!  I truly believe that happiness is a choice.
  6. Get your supplements and vitamins in:  Unfortunately, our fast pace world and instant gratification expectations make us vulnerable to poor diets and lifestyles. How long has it been since you reviewed your supplements and vitamins routine with your medical provider?   I’m not here to tell you what vitamins or where to get them, just to recommend that you review it with your doctor. Then be a smart consumer and do your homework.  I love my source because I know where they come from and that they are tested. Over time I’ve been able to figure out what makes me feel healthy. Pro-Tip: Consider probiotics, antioxidants, and the RDA (recommended daily amount) for each vitamin. This is NOT an instance of “more is better.”  Be sure you are taking the correct amounts.
  7. Stay hydrated:  Our bodies are working overtime fighting off all the nasties during this season. It’s like running a car on old, sluggy oil. Our bodies need clean, fresh “oil.”
  8. (Seriously?) Have a nightcap:  Researches found that about 5 oz. of wine, 12 oz. of beer OR (not AND), 1 ½ oz. of spirits daily can actually cut your risk of heart disease by up to 55 %.  Cheers
